VE Party
Davy class celebrated the end of their WW2 topic by having their very own VE party. The children dressed in period costume, played beetle, musical chairs and ate the ration recipes that they have made at home ( we especially enjoyed Guy’s potato cakes!) Jake loved the food so much, he took the left over cakes for his parents to enjoy.
Emily (dressed as Winston Churchill) was the class beetle champion and Luc enjoyed jiving with Miss Palfreyman.
After a busy week, Davy class are getting ready for camp on Monday.

Penhaligon Newsletter 12.5.17
This week we have been revising our fractions and 2d/3d shapes learning in our Maths. In our English we our learning about Instructions. We wrote our own instructions for making cereal. In Geography we made our own wind vanes and we enjoyed measuring our beans in Science with Mrs Davis.
Home Learning and Reading
As Sats are taking place over the next two weeks and the children will be tested in their spelling, reading and arithmetic I have not set any formal home learning, If you would like to you could continue to practise the 2s, 5s, and 10s times tables and revise any spellings previously learnt this year. As an optional activity see if you can find any interesting 3d shapes this week and bring them in to show us. (Photographs are also fine) Please ensure you are reading with your child as often as possible. The children need to be practising their reading at home to ensure that they continue to build their fluency and develop their understanding. Please initial their reading record when you have read with them.
SATS
Our SATS will take place in the classroom and in the library next week and the week after. You may notice display boards have been covered and the tables have been moved. The children have been involved in this process and have enjoyed decorating the blank walls. All children will do 6 papers in total spread out over these two weeks. The children are used to doing practise papers and we aim to keep these two weeks as relaxed as possible. If you have any further questions, concerns, or you would like more information please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Recorder
Mrs Whatley will be coming in every Monday to teach recorder for the rest of this term. We have had three sessions so far and the children have been fantastic! We hope to include a recorder performance in our class assembly and open afternoon on Thursday 13th July.

Boscawen Newsletter 5th May 2017
Dear Parents and Carers,
The children have begun to bring in some beautiful home learning, thank you for the support you have been giving them. They are really engrossed in the Roman topic and producing some lovely pieces of learning.
Next week, we will be doing a 2 and 3 times tables test – again it will include the division facts of each times table. It would be really useful if you could support your child in preparation for this test. A practice sheet is on the reverse of this sheet.
In PE, we will try to go outside as often as possible, so please check that your child has their PE kit, including trainers or plimsolls on Friday.
As always, if you would like to discuss anything, please drop in to see us or email us on sburns@perranporth.cornwall.sch.uk or esmitheram@perranporth.cornwall.sch.uk.
Thank you.
Mrs Burns and Mrs Smitheram.
