Home-learning, 30.11.16
Hi everyone,
The home-learning for Trengrouse Class is attached below. It is assessment week next week so the children will have a chance to show off their understanding from the first term of learning.
We will also be attempting to make our items to sell for the Christmas Fair next week.
Regards,
Mr Harris.

St Piran Class Newsletter Friday 25th November
St Piran Class Newsletter- 25th November 2016
This week we have finished writing our bossy sandwich instructions in our English. We have been learning about more than and less than in our Maths. We have also started our rehearsals for the Christmas Nativity and the children are all very excited about the play.
Phonics
This week in Phonics we have learnt the ‘ay’, ‘ou’ and ‘ie’ phonemes. Next week we will be learning ‘ea’ as in cup of tea, ‘oy’, and ‘ir’. If you have spare time practise segmenting words with these phonemes in with your child.
Home Learning
This week in our maths we have been learning all about place value. For your home learning I would like you to complete the missing number sequences or to order the numbers from smallest to biggest. For additional home learning this week why not practise sequencing two digit numbers from biggest to smallest and smallest to biggest or log on to Mathletics using your log in in your reading record and complete the Place Value activities on there. Don’t forget to practise your lines for our Nativity too.
Support tips:
- Missing number activity-encourage your child to read the sequence out loud so they can see whether the numbers are getting smaller or bigger.
- Use a numberline for extra support if needed.
- Sequencing numbers by size- Read the four numbers first. Cross them out as you put them in order. Check it through when finished.
Nativity
Our performance is on Wednesday the 14th December at 2pm. We hope to see you there. Please make sure your child’s costume is in school in a named carrier bag by the 9th December.
Trevithick mud kitchen
Trevithick class are in the process of creating their own exciting mud kitchen. If you have any children’s waterproofs or wellies that are no longer needed please bring them in. Any donations will be gratefully received.
Pebbles
For a Christmas craft this year we will be using pebbles. If you are able to collect any smooth round pebbles about the size of a flat satsuma please bring them in. We would be very grateful.
Dates for your Diary and Reminders
We are a nut free school. We kindly ask that children do not bring in nuts or obvious nut products as part of their snack or lunches.
Friday 9th December- Own clothes day. Children to bring in chocolate for Christmas Fayre. (No nuts please)
Saturday 10th December- FOPS Christmas Fayre
Tuesday 13th December- Christmas lunch day
Wednesday 14th December- Trevithick and St Piran Nativity performance 2pm
Friday 16th December- Christmas jumper day. £1 donation for Save the Children.
Many thanks
St Piran Team

Boscawen Newsletter 25th November 2016
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week we have begun to practise our songs for our carol concert. All children have been given a set of lyrics for all the songs and we will be practising them a lot more next week. Our concert, which is a joint performance with Year 2 and Year 4, will take place on Monday 12th December at 6pm in the school hall. We hope to see you all there.
Thank you to everyone who has sent in items for the Christmas hamper, all items have now been collected by FOPS to make the hampers for the Christmas fair. The fair will take place on Saturday 10th December, from 10am-12pm.
Just a reminder that we will be checking reading records every week, so please make sure your child has it in school every day. We like children to read at least 5 times a week at home. Please record any reading in the record (or get your child to record it themselves with a comment about what they have read.)
Please also check that your child has their spellings book with them on Thursday (for the test) and Friday (to stick new spellings in.) Thank you.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss anything, as always, please drop in to see us or email us on sburns@perranporth.cornwall.sch.uk or esmitheram@perranporth.cornwall.sch.uk .
Thank you.
Mrs Smitheram and Mrs Burns.
p.s. We will be making our Christmas decorations for the Christmas Fair over the next couple of weeks and will need jam jars – if you have a spare empty one at home, could you please send it in to school. Thank you.

Christmas Concert Words!
Hi everyone,
Attached are the revised words/songs for our upcoming Christmas Concert with Year 2 and 3. If you are able to print a copy for your child(ren) to use for practise it would be a great help!
Kind regards,
Mr Harris.
