St Piran Class Newsletter Friday 4th December
This Week
This week we have been learning about verbs in English. We have practised our counting forwards and backwards in Maths starting from two digit numbers. In Design & Technology we made our own Advent wreaths.
Phonics
This week in Phonics we have learnt the ‘ew’, ‘oe’, ‘au’ and ‘ey’ phonemes. If you have any free time please practise words with these phonemes in with your child. Next week we will be learning the ‘a-e’, ‘e-e’, ‘i-e’, and ‘o-e’ phonemes you may wish to get a head start on these phonemes. Please let me know if you have lost your Phonics book from last year and would like a new one.
Home learning
For home learning this week I would like the children to complete the missing number sequences worksheet. As an extra challenge why not create your own number sequences or number sentences with numbers missing.
Support tips:
- Read the existing numbers in the number sequences with your child.
- Use an online hundred square to help show your child the existing numbers in the pattern.
- To find an interactive hundred square online search for splat square 100 in a search engine.
EYFS/ Year 1 Nativity
Please can all children have their costumes in school in a named bag on their peg by Friday the 11th December at the latest. Our EYFS/ year 1 Nativity is on Wednesday the 16th December and will start at 2pm.
Christmas cards
We have a post box in our classroom for children to post their Christmas cards in. Class lists of names are available. If you would like one please ask.
Many thanks

Boscawen Newsletter 4th December 2015
Dear Parents and Carers,
As you can imagine, this week we have been practising our singing and acting for the Carol Concert on Monday. We look forward to seeing you either at 2.15 or 6pm in the school hall. We would like all the children to be dressed in school uniform for the performance, please. They can also wear a bobble hat if they would like to.
On Wednesday, the children took a well-earned rest from rehearsals when we had a visit from Kerry, who taught us yoga. The children really enjoyed learning some deep breathing techniques as well as a variety of yoga poses. Please look at the class blog for some photos of the children in action.
Today we also had Bobble Hat Day in aid of the NSPCC. The children looked fabulous in their hats and Boscawen raised £11.97 for the charity. Well done!
Don’t forget that next Friday is own clothes day in return for a bar of chocolate for the Christmas fair and the following Friday will be Christmas Jumper Day if the children would like to wear one as it is the last day of term.
If you would like to speak to either of us, please drop in to see us, call the office or email us on esmitheram@perranporth.cornwall.sch.uk or sburns@perranporth.cornwall.sch.uk .
Thank you.
Mrs Smitheram and Mrs Burns
