Perranporth School Newsletter 21st June 2013
Dear Parents/Carers,
The children have had a brilliant week creating all kinds of artwork. Classes have worked together and a visiting artist has been making clay tiles with St Piran and Boscawen Classes. Trengrouse and Trevithick Classes visited the beach.
Davy Class has been busy rehearsing for their play “Keymaster”.
Reports
Yearly reports will be sent home on July 4th except for Year 6 reports which will be a week later so they can include SATS results.
Parent Survey
It would be much appreciated if you would complete the following short survey. This will enable the school to ascertain areas of strength and development needs for the future. The class with the most responses will receive a reward! http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/perranps. The link is also on the web-site.
If you have more than one child and wish to complete multiple surveys you will need to use another computer or request a hard copy. You are most welcome to use a school computer.
I apologise for the inconvenience!
The Great Summer Camp Out
The camp out was a great success – the rain held off for most of the time and over 30 people spent the night under canvas on the school field! Thanks must go to Robert Wiltshire for his amazing paella and BBQ skills. The event raised approximately £120 for school funds. Thank you to all those who joined in and helped out.
Summer Fayre
This year the summer fayre is being held on the Inner Green (Memorial Hall if wet). We have volunteers for most of the stalls but there are still a few spaces if anyone is free to help out. Please make yourself known to the school secretary or a member of the FOPS team. We are starting to ask for stall donations now. This week we are looking to collect empty screw top wine bottles. (yes empty!) Please leave them on the school hall steps for collection.

Parking
A reminder that permits are available for Wheal Leisure car park for the beginning and end of the school day.
Music Lessons
Is your child interested in learning a musical instrument? Weekly lessons are offered by peripatetic teachers from Cornwall Music in guitar, violin and woodwind. With the exception of ‘string babies’ (violin lessons available to KS1 pupils), lessons are normally only recommended to KS2 pupils. This does involve a financial (approximately £5 per lesson) and time commitment (practising!), so you need to be sure your child is really enthusiastic about learning. Instruments can be hired through Cornwall Music and all details can be obtained from the school office. It would be very helpful for organisational purposes if contracts can be finalised before the end of term please.
Sports Day
I apologise that Sports Day did not take place on Thursday due to the bad weather forecast. It will now take place on Tuesday 25th June at 1.30 pm.
Non-uniform Day
This will take place on Monday 8th July when children are asked to wear their own clothes in return for a bar of chocolate for the Summer Fayre.
Best Wishes,
Liz Martin(headteacher)
