Perranporth School Newsletter 17th May 2013
Dear Parents/Carers,
Unfortunately, technology got the better of me last week as Parent Mail would not accept the newsletter with the two photos of the flags and the school choir but it should be on the web-site.
Having said that, if you do have an email that we could use, it would save a lot of paper and ink as we still send about a third of hard copies.
Please contact Mrs Hunkin! secretary@perranporth.cornwall.sch.uk
The performance of “The Bolster” at the Hall For Cornwall was a great success and we were so proud of the children as they were brilliant and behaved really sensibly during a very long afternoon of rehearsals and waiting around. Our appreciation goes to Mrs Keast and Miss Radcliffe for their hard work and time.
Marten Holmes and “Open the Book” took assemblies this week and a group of Year 4/5 children enjoyed a surfing lesson on Wednesday despite the cold.
WALK TO SCHOOL WEEK 20th – 24th MAY
Children are encouraged to walk to school as much as possible next week. There are permits available to park in the Wheal Leisure Car Park to allow parents and children time to walk before and after school. Please contact the school office.
HOMEWORK
There has been some amazing topic homework being returned to school, so thank you for supporting the home learning. Have a look on the web-site!
LATENESS & ATTENDANCE
There continues to be a substantial number of children who are regularly late in the morning. 13 on Monday! It may only be a few minutes but it means that classes are continually being disturbed and do not have a calm start to the day. The Education Welfare Officer is visiting next week so if your child is one of these you are likely to be contacted.
This will also be the case if a child’s attendance drops below 90% and there are concerns regarding days of absence without a valid reason (e.g. birthdays!).
Taking holidays during term means that learning is missed and I would urge you to think carefully before doing so.
DRUMMING LESSONS
“Stick at It” are offering drumming lessons at 80% reduction for children who have free school meals, are children in care , have disability living allowance or whose parents are in the armed forces. Please contact www.stick-at-it.com if you are eligible.

Liz Martin (headteacher)
