Penhaligon Spellings WB 12-5-14
Spellings WB 12-5-14
Here are the words your child needs to learn this week. Your child will know which group they are in. We have a spelling dictation in class every Friday.
Group 1: important – unimportant – trained – untrained – zip – unzip – popular – unpopular – lucky – unlucky
Group 2: he – me – she – we – be – mind – find – wild – kind – child
We use the ‘Look, Cover, Write, Check’ method in class to help learn our spellings. If you are unfamiliar with this method, please ask your child to explain it to you. Thank you!

Penhaligon News 9th May 2014
Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you for all the donations towards our Blue Day for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. We raised £19.46 in Penhaligon Class – well done!
We are really pleased to announce that we have a new member of staff helping in Key Stage 1. Miss Bennett will be replacing Mrs Drohan supporting children in small groups and teaching our intervention work.
We will not be setting any more homework this half term as the children have been working hard on their SATS. We will, however, start again after the half term break and the homework will be more formal as we begin to get the children ready for Key Stage 2.
Just a reminder that it will be Key Stage 1 Sports Day on Thursday 22nd May at 2pm on the field. Please come along and support your child – we have been practising hard and they are all looking forward to it.
And finally, a huge thank you to Mr Hamilton who has given us access to a web link, allowing us to view the data collected by the wind turbine at Bolingey. It has been fascinating for the children to see how the weather can be used in such productive way so close to home.
As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to drop in to see either of us.
Thanks,
Mrs Burns and Mrs Willetts.

Informal E- safety Advice
Informal E- safety Advice
THIS FRIDAY 9th May From 8:45 – 9:25 in the school hall.
Our Cornwall schools esafety officer (PC Nigel Hyde) will be visiting school this Friday. He has offered to give advice and guidance to any parents or carers who may have burning questions on how best to guide children towards being responsible online, outside of school. He will be visiting years 5 and 6 after this time with parents.
Please do pop in and have a listen or use the time to ask questions between 8:45 and 9:25 this Friday morning.
