Perranporth School Newsletter 1st March 2013
Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope you enjoyed your half term break despite the cold weather but Spring is here at last!
This week we have had three visitors for assemblies, Marten Holmes, Mrs Bragg, who told the children about the charity that we are supporting for Comic Relief and “Open the Book” when we heard the parable of The Good Samaritan.
All the children practised Cornish Dances on Wednesday with Jo Tagney and Mrs Bell ready for “The Welcome”.
Davy and Trengrouse children took part in the Cross Country event on Thursday.
Unfortunately there was vandalism over the half term when the playground shed was broken into and much of the equipment was thrown into the fields and the swimming pool. The cover of the pool was damaged again and will need to be replaced. The football nets were broken beyond repair so two matches have had to be postponed this week. It is so disappointing and destructive when everyone works so hard to raise money to improve our facilities. There will be an article in The West Briton about it this week and if anyone has any information we would appreciate you contacting us or the police.
The governors have discussed installing CCTV cameras, which are of course very expensive and the police have recommended that we do so.
COMIC RELIEF 2013 –message from School Parliament
On Friday 15th March we are asking children to come into school wearing red and donate silver coins. Junior children will be running a cake stall during breaktime to add to the funds. We are supporting Bongwe Primary School near Mombassa in Kenya. More information is available at www.aid4orphans.com.
FOPS Cake Sale
A reminder that next week on March 8th, it is the turn for Davy Class to make cakes for the stall please.
PARENTS EVENINGS
These will take place from 3.30p.m.-6p.m. on 5th and 7th March. If for some reason you have not received a letter, please let us know.
Due to Parents’ Evenings taking place next Tuesday and Thursday, we are sorry that the following activities will NOT take place on 5th and 7th March:
Funky Feet dance class (Tuesday); Running Club (Tuesday); Film Club (Thursday)
All back to normal the following week!
SECURITY
As from Monday the external doors will be locked from 9.a.m to ensure security. After that time children will need to come through the office to their classes. Please may I remind you that children need to be at school by this time.
Best Wishes,
Liz Martin (headteacher)
