Perranporth School Newsletter 8th March 2013
Dear Parents/Carers,
Thank you for supporting a really successful “Welcome” on Friday evening. It was great to see so many there and having a good time. Our thanks must go to Mrs Bell for her hard work in organizing this annual event. We are probably the only school in Cornwall where children can do such excellent
Cornish Dancing.
Thanks also to Mrs Keast and her excellent singers. They have been invited to take part in the Wadebridge Folk Festival which is a very prestigious event so hopefully that can be arranged.
Davy Class enjoyed a visit to Treviglas School this week where they took part in drama and music based on “Oliver” as part of their Victorian topic.
Father Caspar took assembly on Tuesday this week and there was also a presentation from the drumming teacher.
The “SEAL” theme for this half term is “getting on and falling out” so this is being explored in lessons and assemblies. This week we have been discussing exactly what bullying means and how to deal with it. The children have been reminded that they must always tell an adult if they have concerns and also Mrs Murrell is available on Thursdays and Fridays. She also has a “Chat Club” at lunchtimes for the juniors.
SPORT
The Tag Rugby team came 2nd in the inter-schools tournament which was excellent and they were complimented on their sportsmanship,
Lani fromTrengrouse Class and Frank,Harry and Jessica from Davy Class qualified this week for the County Cross Country Finals which will take place next Wednesday.
Congratulations to all!
VANDALISM
Richard Hill, the community policeman, has been very pro-active in investigating who caused the damage over half term. It is disappointing to hear that they were ex-pupils of the school but they will spending time on the premises helping with various tasks as restorative justice.
COMIC RELIEF 2013 –message from School Parliament
On Friday 15th March we are asking children to come into school wearing red and donate silver coins. Junior children will be running a cake stall during breaktime to add to the funds. We are supporting Bongwe Primary School near Mombassa in Kenya. More information is available at www.aid4orphans.com.
Best Wishes,
Liz Martin (headteacher)
