Dear Parents and Carers,

Firstly, I would like to thank all the parents who joined us on our walk to town on Thursday. We were lucky to have fantastic weather and the children all behaved impeccably. We have thought hard about what activities are available to us in Perranporth and where we can find healthy foods.

This week we have designed menus, thinking carefully about how to make them look attractive to our readers. In maths, we have been measuring and thinking about left and right, can your child remember which is their left or right arm and leg? We have also started learning our 2 times table.

On Monday, we had a visit from Mrs Edwards’ son, Stuart, who brought in his unusual pets – 2 snakes, 3 tarantulas and a collection of cockroaches! The children were fascinated and took turns holding the snakes, Bella and baby Daisy (who Penhaligon named!), as well as some cockroaches.

This was our last week studying our topic, What do I need to be me? I hope the children have enjoyed it as much as we have.

Next week, we will start our new topic, Through the Keyhole. This topic is based on science and history, focussing on materials and the history of everyday objects. The literacy elements will be recounts, adventure stories and non-fiction books linked to their science work on materials.

Just one last thing, we have had a couple of cases of nits in class this year. As a precaution, please could you check your child for head lice. If you find live lice, the wet combing method, together with the use of insecticides, is the recommended treatment. This should be repeated every two or three days for two weeks.

If you have any questions, as always, drop in to see me or email me on penhaligon@perranporth.cornwall.sch.uk .
Many thanks.

Mrs Burns.
