Perranporth School Newsletter 14th February 2013

Dear Parents/Carers,

We have had a brilliant time today for “Asprirations Day” with some really interesting outfits and ideas.

Several parents have been in to talk to the children about their jobs, so thank you to them.

The quiz team did really well this week and became runners up in the Inter Schools competition. They were complimented on their behaviour and manners.

Congratulations to Mrs Lampier who has achieved her accreditation from Plymouth University for Special Needs Teachers. This involved much private studying over the past year.

“Open the Book” came to assembly on Wednesday and they will be here every other Wednesday until Easter.

Trengrouse/Trelawny Assembly

The classes did a brilliant assembly this morning which was a mini-drama based on “Oliver”. Thank you to parents for supporting this. The children are really enjoying their Victorian Project this term.

Sport

The football team played Tregony this week. The score was  5-2 to Tregony

Congratulations to Year 5 and 6 pupils who played in a basketball tournament against Newquay schools

and won the shield.  Mrs Edwards is very pleased!

BAG2SCHOOL….message form Terena Hillary.
Thank you to EVERYONE who filled bags and managed to get them up to school on Tuesday morning. We appreciate this wasn’t easy for many of you but, the school has such limited storage, it was important that bags were brought to school on the same day as they were being collected. We had 108 bags donated and these were weighed as they were loaded onto the van. (All donated items are re-sold so nothing goes to waste.) We have managed to raise £325 for school funds!!  This is a huge amount for relatively little effort so we have already booked our next collection day for Friday 7th June. Please, please go and put this in your diary NOW and start collecting items ready to fill more bags in 4 months time. Let’s see if we can raise even more!!

Parents Evenings

These will take place from 3.30p.m.-6p.m. on 5th and 7th March.  Letters for appointments will be sent out after half term

The Welcome Parade  6p.m. 1st March .

Please put this in your diary. The children in KS2 will be asked to dress in traditional Cornish costume and KS1 will be dressed in St Piran flags. They will process to The Memorial Hall along with St Piran , banners, manikins and lanterns with the band playing the Perran Furry.

Mrs Bell will send out more information after half term.
A reminder that there is a non-pupil day tomorrow so that the staff can join other local schools for training.

Have a good half-term break and hopefully we will see some sunshine!

Best wishes,

Liz Martin (headteacher)
