Perranporth School Newsletter 1st February 2013

Dear Parents/Carers

CAKE SALE ON FRIDAYS

Thanks to Trevithick Class who raised £49 and St Piran Class who raised £60.50. Today is Penhaligon’s turn and next week is Boscawen. Empty tins are returned to the “community room” if they have not been collected.

BAGS2SCHOOL FUNDRAISING  12TH FEBRUARY

FOPS have arranged this for us and everyone can get involved. Look out for your free collection bag next week. Please fill with good quality clothes, bedding, curtains, soft toys, belts, handbags and shoes (tied together). Simply return to school on the morning of Tuesday 12th February. The bags are taken and weighed and the school gets 50p per kilo. Simple! A great way to have a Spring clearout. Posters will be around the school next week.

SPORT

Mrs Smitheram amd Mrs Edwards took children from Boscawen Class to a tournament in Newquay in which Ellie won a medal for best defender. The football team had a successful win against Summercourt School.

THE WELCOME
Mrs Bell is holding a meeting at 6p.m. on Monday 4th February to organise this year’s St Piran’s Day “welcome” which will be on Friday 1st March. This is a fantastic community event and everyone is welcome to come to the meeting, particularly new parents who have not experienced this before,

SAFE SURFING

Are you aware of the Internet issues that children can be subject to? Do you know what your child knows? Pop in and have a coffee and a chat from 9.00 a.m on Monday 4th February. Our ICT advisor, Glyn Pascoe will be here as well as Miss Roberson and Mrs Ballinger to answer any questions and astound you with the latest updates!

SCHOOL MEALS

There will be a special menu for Chinese New Year on 7th February and Shrove Tuesday on 12th February.

LATENESS

I met with Mrs Valentine, the Education Welfare Officer this week to discuss attendance and lateness. She will be contacting those families who have been late on several occasions since September. The register is a legal document so if a child arrives after 9.a.m the code will be for lateness, but after 9.15a.m, it will be classed as an unauthorized absence.

I am sure that you understand the need for children to have a settled start to the day.

FUTURE DATES:

HALF TERM 18th-22nd FEBRUARY

THE WELCOME- 1st MARCH

END OF TERM 28th MARCH

SUMMER TERM 15TH APRIL-19th JULY

Best wishes,

Liz Martin  (headteacher)
