Penhaligon News 14th March 2014

Dear Parents and Carers

This week we have been thinking about similes and using them to describe different objects.  We have also tried to make complex sentences to describe them.  Can your child explain what a complex sentence is?

In numeracy, we practised telling the time.  Some of us are working on analogue clocks, looking at quarters and 5 minute intervals and some of us are trying to use digital clocks too.  It would be really helpful if you could encourage your child to look at clocks during the day and try to tell the time.

We finished our mini-project on Ireland and the children worked really hard on their Big Write about Ireland.  Well done to all of them for trying so hard.

One more ‘Well done’:  This week when we checked our reading records,  almost all of the children had read 5 times or more – they earned extra play for all their efforts!  Keep it up!

Finally,  just to let you know that today is Logan’s last day with us.  He will be moving to a school nearer his house.  We will all miss him but we know he will be very happy there.

 Thank you,

Mrs Burns and Mrs Willetts
