St Piran Class Newsletter Friday 13th January

This week we have been continuing our Maths learning on Time. The children have been matching times on clocks to times in words. In English we wrote about our weekends and have started looking at Sea poetry. In History we have been comparing Sea rescue in the past and sea rescue in the present day.

Phonics

This term we will be continuing our Phase 5 in Phonics. This week we have been learning about ‘a-e’, ‘i-e’, ‘o-e’, and ‘e-e’. Next week we will be learning about alternative pronunciations of ‘a’, ‘e’, and ‘i’.

Home Learning

We have started our new topic ‘to the rescue’. For home learning this week I would like the children to write about an Emergency service don’t forget to include pictures and photos.  For extra home learning this week why not find out about Grace Darling.

Support tips:

  • Talk to your child about what they would like to write about.
  • Encourage your child to sound out what they would like to write.
  • Ask your child to read their writing through to check it makes sense.

Science

Mrs Davis will be teaching the class on a Tuesday morning. For their Science learning this term she has requested any large empty fizzy drinks bottles for an experiment.
