Penhaligon Newsletter 29th September 2014

Dear Parents and Carers,
This week in literacy, we have been practising writing recounts. We know we need to use time words such as first, then, after that and finally, and that we need to make sure all the events are written in the right order. The children wrote a great recount of the Joseph and his Technicolour Dream Coat. Can they tell you the story using some time words?
In numeracy, we have continued our work on money and are really getting the hang of adding coins and even giving change. We have also been practising telling the time – if you could support this by looking at clocks and discussing the time with your children, this would help them hugely.
You should all have had a letter about our trip to town next Thursday, please make sure the tear off slip is returned by Monday. We will be looking at all the activities that are available to us in Perranporth and thinking about where we can make healthy food choices as part of our topic, What do I Need to be me?
Unfortunately, Mrs Willetts is unwell and will not be back for at least 3 weeks. So that the children are not disrupted at all, I will teach full-time, with Mrs Hendra covering Wednesday afternoons. Apart from that, it will be the same as usual for the children.
As always, if you have any questions, please come in to see me or email me on penhaligon@perranporth.cornwall.sch.uk.
Many thanks.
Mrs Burns.
