Penhaligon Newsletter 12th September 2014

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had a really enjoyable first full week back in Penhaligon Class.

In literacy, we have learnt about riddles and the children have written their own based on different animals – can they tell you their clues for you to guess the answer?

In numeracy, we have been recapping tens and units, the children have been counting on in tens as well as breaking numbers into tens and units to make number sentences, e.g. 50+7=57.

In our new topic, What do I need to be me?, we have been looking at similarities and differences and the off-spring of different animals, as well as taste testing fruit for the smoothies we will be making!

Can we just remind everyone to check that all clothes are labelled? We still have the occasional item un-named which makes it hard to return it to its owner.

Also, as we have a stomach bug at school at the moment, can we remind everyone that the school rule is that if your child vomits or has diarrhoea, they need to stay off school for 48 hours from the last time it occurs. This really helps limit the spread of bugs.

Don’t forget that on Wednesday you can come in to Meet the Teacher – just come to our room 3.30 to 4.00 or 5.30 to 6.00.

And finally, well done to our Readers of the Week who all read at least 5 times at home this week and recorded it in their reading diaries: Callum, Sam L, Sam M and Esmee. Well done all of you!

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on Wednesday.

Mrs Burns and Mrs Willetts.
