St Piran Class Newsletter Friday 3rd March 2017

This week we have been learning about multiplication and division in our Maths. The children have been brilliant at solving multiplication and division word problems. In our English we made our own comic strips of the story and added speech to them.

Phonics

This term we will be continuing our Phase 5 in Phonics. This week we have been learning about the alternative pronunciations of ‘r’, ‘s’ and ‘z’. Next week we will be learning ‘u’, ‘i’ and ‘ear’.

Home Learning

We have been celebrating World Book Day throughout this week. For home learning I would like the children to draw a picture of their favourite character and write about who they are. As an extra challenge why not have a go at writing your own story or make/bake your own gingerbread man.

Support tips:

  • Discuss different characters with your child.
  • Encourage your child to sound out words they want to use in their writing.
  • Remind your child to check their writing through when they have finished.
